Still no call from Mark.

He specifically suggested we get together Saturday afternoon.

Is 1:30 pm not “afternoon”?

Was I supposed to call him, maybe?

I’m pretty sure that 1) you’re beautiful and 2) you don’t need this guy if he’s not calling you.

Come on, now…

Thank you.

This happens a lot though. I give my number to a guy who seems like he has the genuine intention of calling. And then he doesn’t.

I think maybe I’m not enthusiatic enough when he sets up plans. I get nervous. I want him to hurry up and make the date so I can get the hell out of there and just be comforted by the fact that I finally landed a date.

Perhaps my “graceful exit” needs a little work.

I’m surprised you have to ask. If you like the guy, don’t play gender based role playing games, like waiting for him to call.

Call him up.

There could be all sorts of reasons why he hasn’t called you.

If you make the call, you’ll know, once and for all what’s going on and it’ll stop eating you up. You’ll be able to move on to the step, in whatever direction the call leads you.

Razz, I cringe as I type this because I can practically hear you groaning as I say: it’s a Southern girl thing. My momma always said, “Don’t chase the boys, let them chase you.”

I know, I know, you don’t have to tell me…

“I cringe as I type this”

And so you should.

“it’s a Southern girl thing”

Without trying to sound like I’m trying to suck up to you, you come across as being fairly smart and in touch with reality.

I know it’s easy for me to say, but I think that falling back on tradition is a bit of a cop out. Cultural laziness, if you will.

Time to get over it and create your own code of living. Out with the old and in with the new!

Here’s two trite old maxims that might serve to inspire you.

Fortune favours the brave.

Whatever doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.
